Got any
thoughts about John Terry, England’s encouraging efforts against Spain, Fabio
Capello or the England team in general? Do email in, especially if they are
printable, to alan.tyers@telegraph.co.uk
12.00 Hello
and welcome to our live blog of the England press conference from the team’s
Hertfordshire hotel, where John Terry will speak in public for the first time
since the Anton Ferdinand row. Should be a lot to talk about, right? Well, yes
and no. Displaying the sort of tight control that is often beyond our on-field
heroes, the FA brass have mandated that England’s Lionheart John Terry will NOT
answer questions on the alleged racial incident itself.
Assuming
that the gentlemen of Her Majesty’s football press are worth their salt, they
must be licking their lips at the prospect of nagging and probing and picking
away at the Terry defences like Xavi and Iniesta against a massed back four. Or
a massed back nine, if Fabio has anything to do with it. Or perhaps they will
just give him an easy ride on the basis that the Met police have told the FA not to discuss the
incident or allow it to be discussed.
Either way,
we will be bringing you the press conference as it happens, where the man who
will captain England against Sweden on Tuesday will appear alongside manager
Fabio Capello. We should be off and running at 1pm.
Hopefully,
we should see some good ‘Yes Minister’ style convoluted probing from the
journalists.
“If you
hypothetically had been involved in the incident which did not happen, what
would you hypothetically say to somebody who might be related to the individual
whom you definitely did not abuse if you were playing alongside this person in
central defence?”
